Myanmar or Burma is a Southeast Asian nation of more than 100 ethnic groups. Myanmar is a country rich in history, culture, and tradition. Myanmar is a country full of Intriguing history and tradition. With ancient temples and pagodas, emerging culture or untouched landscapes, Myanmar is becoming a popular destination to visit. And there is so much to discover about this place. But before you plan your trip to Myanmar, there are some travel tips that you must know about the country and make sure that you follow them and respect their culture:

   1. Best Time to Visit Myanmar

The best time to visit Myanmar is from December to April as the temperature is comfortable and dry. December to February is the busiest season due to the arrival of most of the tourists. If you want to enjoy the biggest festivals in Myanmar, you should visit Myanmar in October or November. Festivals like The Thadingyut Festival, The Tazaungdaing Festival, etc.

   2. What to Pack

So, it’s the most crucial part of any Trip. Decide according to the country what to pack and whatnot. Don’t forget to pack all your essentials like chargers, travel documents, power bank, toiletries, clothes, winter wear, prescribed medicines and so on. The tourist seasons usually see moderate climate, but to enter pagodas you need to wear full clothing, so pack accordingly.

   3. Book your Hotel Beforehand

We recommend booking your hotel beforehand to ignore the last moment hustle. Also, it will give you an idea about your budget. So, It’s always a better idea to prebook a hotel and arrange airport transfers to avoid a hassle-free travel experience.

   4. Carry a small Bag for your Shoes

No matter what your Itinerary for Myanmar is, you will surely end up visiting a few pagodas while you’re there. You can carry a bag with you to carry your shoes because many pagodas have multiple entries and exits. So, it’s better to take your shoes with you.

   5. Dress Sensibly

Do not wear crop tops or sleeveless tops while you’re in Traditional/Religious Attractions of Myanmar. Respect their culture, and if you’re wearing a short, you can’t enter beautiful pagodas. You can wear the traditional dress of Myanmar- Longyi or any clothing with full coverage. Always remember to respects the traditional culture and beliefs of People while Travelling.  

   6. Learn about Tradition and Culture

Burmese people are polite and helpful. So, respect their culture and follow some local etiquette. Burmese people hand over things with their right hand with their left hand touching the elbow. And if you have a t-shirt or tattoo with Lord Buddha on it, then hide them when you are in Myanmar.

   7. Research about the Permits

As many areas in Myanmar are restricted to tourism, and you need a government permit to enter them so plan accordingly. Because a travel agent will arrange those permits and they take an expensive fee and sometimes even scam you if you end up with an unauthorised agent. So, be careful about it.

   8. Carry Cash

Although there are many ATMs across the country, it’s advisable to carry some cash with you (for buying products and services from local markets). And there’s a transaction fee of USD 3-5 per ATM withdrawal or International Debit and Credit Cards.
